FIRST TIME IN MIAMI | THINGS TO DO
I finally took a trip to Miami, FL, for the first time. I had this trip planned in mind for a while until my bf, and I just got to the point where we were like, let's go. Sometimes I get so caught up in work that I will be afraid to take a break and travel. I'm the girl who takes a while for me to use my PTO, but this year is the year I was like, girl, are you crazy? Use your PTO! So we went to Miami, FL, Mother's day weekend, and it worked out because we made a stop in Ft. Lauderdale to surprise his grandmother. Initially, I didn't want to go for Mother's day weekend, but the timing just worked for us. This trip was memorable because I planned to take a significant risk a week and walk down a new journey. This was my mini celebration away to gas myself up. I will be sharing with you all soon, but I'm not ready.
We landed at the Miami airport and flew Delta for the low! The flights were pretty cheap for Delta. We stayed in an Air BnB in Coconut Grove; it was very convenient. We made sure we rented a car and used the Turo app. For those unfamiliar with the Turo app, its an app that allows you to monetize your vehicle when you're not using it and rent it out to everyday people like myself. It supposes to be 25% cheaper than renting from your traditional car companies like Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, etc. The family we picked our car up from was super sweet and provided us with excellent customer service.
When I think of Miami, I think of the south beach or what I see on TV. I knew I was ready to explore. We didn't spend too much time in South Beach; we went for a few hours one of the days. South Beach Collins ave reminded me of my college days when my friends and I would go to Virginia Beach weekend and walk the strip for three days lit! Drunk all of the above, lol. That's the vibe south beach gave me. Also, somebody ran out on their bill, and I feel like the restaurant was all over the place and didn't provide us excellent customer service. Food wasn't that great either. However, we did find some other restaurants whose food was A1!
SHOP MY LOOK
Below you will find the restaurants in Miami I enjoyed:
Yard Bird Southern Table & Bar
We sat on the patio outside, and the view was everything. Miami made me fall in love with palm trees. It's a whole vibe. The service was everything! It washy much of a crowd, so the food came pretty quick. However, the server put us on the game and said brunch hours the wait can get crazy. I ordered fried chicken, baked mac n cheese, and a mango margarita.
Bistro is one of my fav spots in Miami! The restaurant's aesthetic was so cute, and the food wasn't instagram worthy it taste good in real life. The menu was in Spanish, so it was a bit hard for me to understand. I had to pull up their Instagram account to look at the images and decide what I wanted. I ordered french toast topped with berries and pineapples with scrambled eggs! It was too good!
This place was so cute! I felt like I was eating on in a forest with all of the pretty plants surrounding the restaurant. I ordered french toast, potatoes (this was hitting on a different level), scrambled eggs, and bottomless mimosas. Them mimosa had you girl feeling real wavy lol
The Bodega specializes in tacos and tortas, homemade sodas, and authentic beverages in a dynamic, eclectic "puebla" inspired setting. I ordered the crispy fish and camaron al' coconut shrimp taco with a mango margarita. This isn't your traditional taco shop. The aesthetic of this place is something you will need to experience in person. Name a taco shop that has a lounge attached.
Esotico Miami is a tropical-themed bar in the heart of the Miami Arts and Entertainment District. We came here specifically for the drinks! I ordered the Sexy Colorado. All of the drinks look aesthetically pleasing. I love pina Coladas and wanted to take the safe route. The drink was made with Bacardi Carts Oro Rum, Real Cream of Coconut, pineapple juice, coconut water, and ginger touch. I wasn't a fan of the drink Saturn it had a powerful taste similar to medicine.
Some things to do in Miami
We met at Bayside to get on the thriller speed boat. Before checking into the boat, we stopped for a Miami Vice and Tequila Sunrise. We wanted to be a little tipsy before the ride. The ride was 45 minutes around Miami, and they gave us a mini-tour of the mansions on the island, some owned by actors like will smith.
This area is dedicated to upscale designer stores, art, architecture, and fine dining. If you live in Atlanta, it's similar to Shops of Buckhead, except the Miami Design District is much more significant. We did a little shopping in this area.
The graffiti museum is located in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. This area is very artsy and is known for murals that cover the walls. The museum was a dope experience. I got to learn more in detail about the history of graffiti.
Overall my trip was fun! I was annoyed with the random thunderstorm and this pixie cut getting wet, lol, but other than that, Miami was a vibe, and I want to go back.
Here is a vlog of my Miami trip hope you enjoy it!
