HARD WORK AND CONSISTENCY CAN LEAD YOU TO YOUR DREAMS | WHY YOU NEED TO BE CONSISTENT?
I sit on Youtube for hours watching Nipsey Hussle interviews and different success stories. I’m always inspired by the journey versus the outcome. I relate to those stories the most because I come from the bottom. When you come from nothing sometimes it seems impossible to reach the top. Stories like Nipsey’s is a reminder that we can all live the life we want as long as we put in the work. One thing I can say is every message I hear about the key to success always include that c-word “consistency” So I’m here to tell you how consistency can allow you to manifest your dreams.
Last month I challenged myself to show up for my brand like I show up for everything else in life. I was struggling with creating content consistently. I realized my lack of growth was being hindered due to my inconsistent work behaviors. After analyzing everything I discovered a few fears that were the root of me not showing up 100%. Fear can put you at a roadblock and get in the way of your dreams. To be honest with y'all putting myself out there on social media is scary. Allowing people to have access to my lifestyle frequently can get uncomfortable. People are judgmental, can be rude af or to involved in your lifestyle where they believe they have control. Sometimes I have to remind myself of the "why" when it comes to my brand and my purpose.
I want my content to inspire others to believe in themselves and know that anything is possible. I’m an advocate for people chasing their dreams no matter what stage it is in their life. So the past 30 days I've been consistently posting content every day. This is a huge deal for me and something I’ve never done before. To accomplish this I have to be disciplined and plan my content out in advance. For my non-creatives batch content means I go out and do a photoshoot but capture multiple different outfits in one day. It means creating/working on projects in bulk. This allows me to plan my feed out in advance and work around my content for other platforms aside from IG. Lets just say I already seen a shift and caught the eye of multiple brands which means more opportunities.
Also, I challenged myself to talk on my Instagram stories 5 times a week to connect with my audience and build genuine connections. This was a big one for me because I’m an over-thinker. I allowed fear to get in the way by feeding my mind with comments such as “people are going to think I'm annoying”, “my hair isn't done” I would make excuses because I was projecting my fears on to my work. I had to change my mindset because this is my business. People like to connect with real people. I can take pretty pictures all day on my feed and blog but if people don't get to know the girl behind the screen what's the point. Here is how consistency changed my mindset and gave me the confidence to work towards my dreams:
CONSISTENCY INCREASED MY SELF ESTEEM
When you start to be consistent in the areas of your life where you felt uncomfortable or lacked confidence this will change. I wasn't the most photogenic person when I started blogging and creating content. The more I take photos it start to become second nature and I’m getting more comfortable with my body. To overcome insecurity or fear while manifesting your dreams the biggest tip is to start. Things do not have to be perfect but if you don't start you won't give yourself room to grow.
CONSISTENCY ALLOW ME TO LOCK IN ON MAKING IT A HABIT
They say it takes 30 days to make something a habit. I’m 30 days in I already feel like posting content consistently is apart of my lifestyle. When you become so consistent you will feel off like something is missing when you're not working on that task. Once you make it a habit it will become a priority. Your daily routine plays a huge role in your success.
CONSISTENCY WILL HELP YOU TO BE MORE CLEAR ON YOUR VISIONS AND GOALS
Once you become aligned with your vision and goals being consistent will be the gas pedal to your success. To be consistent you have to be focused and understand what goals you want to achieve short term and long term. When I started this consistency challenge I was able to sit down and face my fears while understanding the sacrifices it may take to step out of my comfort zone to chase my dreams.
How do you challenge yourself to be consistent? Do you have an accountability partner?
